Marie (Granquist) Willer, 92, of Akron, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at Casa De Paz Nursing and Rehab in Sioux City.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at Immanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron. The Rev. Dawn Quame officiated, with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Akron.

Visitation was after 3 p.m. Sunday, with the family present after 6 p.m., and a pPrayer service at 7 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home- Schroeder Chapel in Akron.

Marie (Granquist) Willer, 92, of Akron, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Casa De Paz Nursing and Rehab in Sioux City, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2007 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron. Reverend Dawn Quame will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitations will be after 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2007, with the family present after 6:00 p.m., and a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron.

Marie Julia (Granquist) Willer was born September 14, 1915 in Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Gust and Walda Sophia (Sandvold) Granquist. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron. She attended school in Akron.

She was united in marriage to Julius J. Willer on March 2, 1936 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elk Point, South Dakota. She and Juluis farmed Southeast of Akron for many years. In 1976, they retired and moved to Akron. Julius passed away August 20, 1996 in Akron.

Marie was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron. She was a member of the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed decorating cakes for friends and family. She also enjoyed cooking and ceramics. She was a talented musician, playing the organ and accordion. She also enjoyed collecting dolls and spending time with her cat, Bib. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her special friends and caregivers, Pat and Ernest Haddad of Sioux City; nephews and nieces: Jay and Nancy Willer of Akron, Steve Rounds of Tucson, AZ, Karen Rounds of Tucson, AZ, Alvin Willer of Brunsville, IA, Dorothy and Ray Lubben of Brunsville, IA, Paula and Glen Lawrensen of Vermillion, SD, Carol Schlotfeldt of Webster City, IA, and Joyce Willer of Le Mars, IA; and several great nieces and nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Julius, and 2 sisters: Katherine Rounds and Agnes Bean.

Memorials can be made in Marie’s name to the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Kerry Olsen’s Department, P.O. Box 450, Albert Lea, MN 56007-9849.
