OBITUARY

MRS. ELLEN GERLING

Mrs. Ellen Gerling, 89, Happy Siesta Retirement Home, Remsen, died there Sunday (Sept. 10, 1972) after a long illness. She had been a resident at the home six years.

Funeral services will be Thursday at the Mauer funeral chapel at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the LeMars Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.

The former Mary Ellen Langendorfer, she was born June 11, 1883, at Luana, the daughter of the late John and Frances (Hupfer) Langendorfer. She was married to Aaron Gerling Jan. 1, 1908, at LeMars.

She came to the LeMars vicinity in 1892 and had lived here since.

Mr. Gerling died some 30 years ago. Mrs. Gerling also was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Myla Marshall of Minneapolis, Mrs. Andrew (Marjorie) Kober of LaPorte City, and Mrs. Allen (Nelda) Hansen of Remsen; a son, Gordon of Covina, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
