Life’s End

Set Rites Friday
For Peter Petersen

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. for Peter Petersen, 85, retired Merrill area farmer who died Tuesday at Sacred Heart hospital.

Mr. Petersen was found on the floor of his home in Merrill by Maurice Blum, a neighbor, who investigated after failing to see Mr. Petersen up and about. He entered the house and found the elderly man, who had apparently suffered a stroke.

The services Friday will be at St. John's Lutheran Church in Merrill, of which Mr. Petersen was a member. The Rev. K.J. Hodum will officiate and burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at Merrill, under the direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Mr. Petersen was born Oct. 27, 1877, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and came to this country and to the Merrill vicinity in 1900, where he lived the remainder of his life except for a 10-year period when he lived at Charter Oak.

He married Kate Buhman July 30, 1918, in Johnson Township. She preceded him in death on March 27, 1961.

Mr. Petersen is survived by a sister, Mrs. Margaret Mulder of Sioux City, and four brothers, Jens Petersen, Merrill; Bert of Zion, Ill,; Thomas, of Sioux City; and Henry, rural LeMars.
