DIES IN SIOUX CITY,
RITES TO BE FRIDAYFuneral services for James S. Horton, 76, whose body was found in his room at the Rutland hotel in Sioux City Wednesday, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Heaton funeral home there.
Rev. W.C. Smith, of Merrill, will officiate. Burial will be in the Merrill cemetery.
Mr. Horton was born December 16, 1874, in Oto township, Woodbury county. He came to Sioux City about 50 years ago. At one time he was engaged in farming near Morningside and later, operated an elevator in the same area. His death was attributed by Dr. Thomas L. Coriden, coroner, to a heart attack.
Mr. Horton is survived by the widow, Sally A., of Des Moines; two sons, James, of Cedar Falls, Ia., and Horace of Merrill; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Irwin of Merrill, and Miss Ruth Horton of Des Moines; one brother, Fred E., of Sioux City, and one sister, Mrs. A.J. Kyle of Sioux City. He also is survived by four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Among those coming from a distance to attend the James Horton funeral were Mr. and Mrs. James (Ted) Horton of Cedar Falls. Following the burial service a lunch was served to 35 people at the Horace Horton home. The pallbearers were Emmerson Horton, Don Horton, Homer Watson, and Harry Horton, and as other nephews were snow bound, a friend, Martin Ellison served as pallbearer.
