Charles Carpenter Dies
At Veterans Hospital
Services Wednesday

Charles G. Carpenter, of Merrill, who has been ill for the past four months, died Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Luken’s funeral home in LeMars with the Rev. D.E. Streyffeler officiating, and burial will be the Merrill cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Olsen-Halweg post of the American Legion.

Mr. Carpenter was born Sept. 5, 1891, in Plymouth county, the son of Charles H. and Alma Carpenter. A veteran of World War I, he served overseas for a year and a half. Since then he has farmed in the vicinity of Merrill.

Survivors include a brother, Jay, of Sioux City, and a sister, Elnora, of Cincinnati, O.

Pallbearers will be C.C. Morris, Peter Von Hagel, Eldon Lake, Bob Miller, Martin Eberle, and Louis Lempke.
