LE MARS, Iowa -- Corey Marvin Gatts, 19, of Des Moines, formerly of Le Mars, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Willow Creek Baptist Church in Des Moines. Graveside services will be 5 p.m. today in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Southtown Funeral Home in Des Moines.

Corey was born in Le Mars, the son of John and Lisa Gatts. He moved with his family to Des Moines 17 years ago. He was the 2001 senior class president at Lincoln High School in Des Moines, where he participated in wrestling and football. He was enrolled as a fall semester student at Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was employed with Gilcrest-Jewett Lumber Company as a lumberman.

He was a member of Grace Temple Church of God in Christ and the U.S. Army Reserves.

Survivors include his parents of Des Moines; a brother, John Charles Gatts of Des Moines; a sister, Jessica Dawn Gatts of Des Moines; his grandparents, Darlene Juzek of Merrill, Iowa, Ina Gatts of Le Mars, and Marvin Merle Juzek of Sioux City; his great-grandmother, Mabel Soloman of Merrill; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
