Mrs. Petersen

Mrs. Jens Petersen, long time resident of Merrill, passed away at the Hawarden hospital on March 9, 1953, following a sickness of five weeks. Complications because of advances age was the cause of death.

Emilie Wettstedt, daughter of Christian and Fredaricka Wettstedt, was born March 25, 1878 in Germany,. She was married to Jens Petersen on October 31, 1895 in Merrill. They had resided there since.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 13 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran church in Merrill. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery there under direction of the Luken funeral home in Le Mars. Rev J. D. Brinkman will officiate at last rites.

Survivors include her husband: two sons, Herman of Lake Benton, Minn.; Albert of Merrill, five daughters; (Anna) Mrs. Peter Johansen, (Amelia) Mrs. Eugene Harrison, both of Le Mars; (Clara) Mrs. Ainsworth Lang of Merrill; (Emma) Mrs. William Coddington of Rolfe, Iowa; (Ella) Mrs. Leland Spies of Merrill; two brothers, Edward of Osmond, Nebraska, and Frank of Omaha; one sister, Mrs. Proc Harris of Sioux City. 18 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren also survive.

Pallbearers will be six grandson Leonard Harrison, Robert and Larry Petersen, Marvin and Jens Johansen and Robert Harrison.

Mrs. Peterson had served in the capacity of president of the ladies aid at St. John's church for fourteen years.
