James A. Hamilton
James A. Hamilton, 80, of Merrill, died Tuesday (Dec. 8, 1981) at Floyd Valley hospital in LeMars.
Services will be a 2 p.m. Friday in St. John Lutheran church at Merrill. Rev. Harold Norheim will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery.
There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Luedtke funeral home in LeMars.
Mr. Hamilton was born April 29, 1901, at Ruble to William and Daisy Alderson Hamilton.
He married Marguerite Leopold April 7, 1928, in Sioux City. He farmed in Liberty township until 1936 when he moved to Merrill. He worked for Clark Brothers Construction and for his brother, Wayne Hamilton (Construction), retiring in 1976.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Bliss of Amarillo, Texas; four grandsons, Scott Bliss, Corpus Christi, Tex.; Todd of Byron, Tex.; Gregg of College Station, Tex., and Tim, Lubbock, Tex.; Two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Meagan Bliss.
A brother, Wayne of Merrill; and four sisters, Mrs. Ruth Holsten of Sioux City, Mrs. Frank (Jeannie) Ferguson of State College, Pa., Mrs. Arleen Rath of Hinton and Mrs. Aylenne Clark of Merrill, also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley and a sister, Veo Dougherty.
