Charles C. Hanno, 85, Mitchell, S.D., formerly of Remsen, died April 12 at St. Joseph hospital, Mitchell, S.D., after a short illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Moeller funeral home at Remsen with Dr. T. P. Solem, pastor of St. John American Lutheran church, Sioux City, officiating. Burial was in the Remsen city cemetery.

Mr. Hanno was born Dec. 7, 1886, at Avoca, a son of the late Claus and Katrina Albrecht Hanno, who were pioneer farmers in the Remsen area.

Mr. Hanno had lived at Mitchell the last 20 years. He was a retired plant supervisor for Northern State Power at Sioux Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 brothers and sisters.

Survivors are a son Ellsworth Hanno of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Gaden of Biloxi, Miss.; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews in this area.
