Rita Mary Cornish, 67, of Sioux City died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Patrick Burgess of Loving Faith Fellowship officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cornish was born April 28, 1935, in Webb, Iowa, the daughter of Keith and Gertrude Edleman. She was raised and educated in Webb, graduating from high school. She attended nursing college in Minneapolis. Following her graduation, she began working as a nurses aide at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

She married Richard Cornish on May 5, 1961, in Luverne, Minn.

She was a member of Loving Faith Fellowship International Church in Sioux City. Her hobby was spending time with and watching her grandsons, Kyle and Michia, do gardening.

Survivors include her husband, Richard of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Susan and Tim Boone of Westbrooklyn, Ill.; a son, Charley Cornish of Sioux City; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters and their husbands, Jeanette and Don Lewis of Denison, Iowa, and Cathy and Craig Stanley of Florida; a brother and his wife, Richard and Jen Edleman of Webb; two sisters-in-law, Janet Warner of Sioux City and Patricia Bogner of Jefferson, S.D.; three brothers-in-law, Ken Jordan of Illinois, Harry Cornish and his wife, Judi of Indiana, and Wayne Albert and his wife, Pat of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Barbara Jordan.

Pallbearers will be Johnny, Dustin, Steve and Mike Cornish, David Steele and Chase Jacobson. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeff Underwood.
