MERRILL, Iowa -- Marvin M. Juzek, 69, of Merrill died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at his residence.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Klaus Raab of St. John's Lutheran Church in Merrill officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill, with military rites conducted by American Legion Olson-Halweg Post 125 of Merrill. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Marvin Mearl Juzek was born June 1, 1932, in Plymouth County, Iowa, to Charles and Wilma (Lake) Juzek. He attended and graduated from school in Westfield, Iowa. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 and served during the Korea Conflict.

He married Darlene Solomon on June 1, 1959, in Luverne, Minn. He farmed in Plymouth County and later worked for Corn Belt and Royal Iron Co.

Marvin enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing and horseback riding.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene; three sons, Tim and his wife, Terri of Boyden, Iowa, Kevin of Sioux City and Marvin Jason of Hawarden, Iowa; two daughters and their husbands, Lori and Donald Thompson of Sioux City and Lisa and John Gatts of Des Moines; a brother and his wife, Robert and Rose Williams of Merrill; a sister and her husband, Donna and Leonard Plueger of Le Mars, Iowa; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Corey Marvin Gatts.
