MRS. LEON JONES

Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 1st, at Trinity church in Orange City for Mrs. Leon Jones, who died on Friday, July 26th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Richard Tindall, of Woodland Hills, California. A nephew Rev. C.V.R. De Jong of Denver, Colorado, officiated at the service. Six nephews acted as pall bearers. Interment was made at the LeMars City cemetery with The Van Etten Funeral Home of Orange City, Iowa, in charge of the arrangements.

Kate DeJong was born on April 24th, 1879, at Orange City, and resided there until her marriage to Leon L. Jones of LeMars. The couple came to LeMars to make their home where Mr. Jones was ticket agent for the Illinois Central Rail Road. After Mr. Jones’ retirement in 1942, they moved to Santa Monica, California. After the death of Mr. Jones in 1950, Mrs. Jones made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Tindall, of Woodland Hills, California. [Note: Leon Jones died 17 Apr 1950]

Survivors are three daughters; Mrs. Harry Masters of Redding, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Richard Tindall, of Woodland Hills, California, and Mrs. Leona Connolly of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; two brothers, Pete and George DeJong of Orange City, Iowa; and three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Dowstra of Holland, Michigan, Mrs. Minnie Alberts and Mrs. Nellie Luymes of Orange City.
