Ida M. Nicholson
Ida M. Nicholson, 92, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Cumberland County and Craig, Iowa, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001 in Omaha.
Born May 18, 1909 in Union County, S.D., she was a daughter of the late David and Clara Erford Mentzer. She was the widow of William F. Nicholson, who died Oct. 7, 1984.
Mrs. Nicholson earned her teacher’s certificate from Shippensburg Teachers’ College. She later moved and taught in South Dakota and Akron, Iowa.
She also attended Westmar College to finish her four-year degree. She retired from teaching in 1974.
She had been a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Le Mars, Iowa. In 1984, she became a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, Iowa.
She is survived by one son, Edgar of Le Mars, Iowa; one daughter, Dorothy Nicholson of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Amy Becker of Le Mars, Iowa, and Clara “Goldie” Jumper of Newville; one brother, Robert Mentzer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Services were held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, Iowa. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars, Iowa.
