Mrs. Clarence Harnack

LE MARS, Iowa – Mrs. (Clarence) Alma W. Harnack, 84, died Friday in the Floyd Valley Hospital at Le Mars after a long illness.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen. the Rev. Lee R. Mentink will officiate. Burial will be in Remsen City Cemetery under the direction of the Moeller Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Mrs. Harnack, the former Alma W. Krekow, was born Nov 13, 1899 in rural Marcus. she graduated from Marcus High School in 1919. She taught in rural schools in the Remsen area from 1919 to 1929. She married Clarence J. Harnack Feb. 27, 1927 in Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus. They farmed in the Remsen area from 1927 until 1960, then moved into Remsen. Mr. Harnack died Nov. 1976.

She lived in Remsen from 1960 to 1982, then, because of failing health, made her home with her three children.

She was a member of Ladies Aid of Christ Lutheran Church.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Donna) Stodden and Mrs. Dean (Sharon) Harvey, both of Marcus, one son, Ronald C. Sr., of Remsen; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Adolph (Emma) Brandt of Cherokee and Mrs. Fritz (Dora) Wilkens of Marcus.
