LE MARS, Iowa---Dorothea Ida Marie Petersen, 88, of LeMars,, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 1996, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, LeMars.

Mrs. Petersen was born May 7, 1907, in Lincoln Township, rural Plymouth County, the daughter of Fredrick and Jennie (Nelson) Muecke. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton. She graduated from Hinton High School and later taught school in Lincoln and Stanton townships. She married Arthur Petersen June 29, 1930, at Trinity Lutheran Church. He died in February 1963. She was head dietician at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center for more than 25 years, retiring in the early 1980’s.

Mrs. Petersen was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and had served as the first president of the Ladies Aid. She also was circle member and Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Darvin and Jane of LeMars and Melfred and Marlene of Hinton; a sister, Lucille Krueger of LeMars; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
