Services Saturday at Adaville United MethodistCleo Tindall, 87, of LeMars, a lifelong Plymouth County resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 1994, at the Akron Care Center.
Mrs. Tindall, the former Cleo Gabel, was born Aug. 5, 1907, in Preston Township, Plymouth County, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Taylor) Gabel. She attended rural school and graduated from LeMars High School in 1926. She had taught rural school, worked at Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Plymouth County Museum and The Abbey. She also did volunteer work for Goodwill Industries.
She married J. Clark Tindall on Feb. 15, 1928, at Adaville. He died Nov. 30, 1978. She had been a resident of the Akron Care Center the last five years.
Mrs. Tindall was a member of the Adaville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Rural Home Culture Club, P.E.O., Roving Garden Club, Women’s Farm Bureau where she served as chairman, and a member of the Gold Star Mothers.
Survivors include a son, Rollin and his wife, Mary Tindall, of Akron; a brother, Ralph and his wife, Midlred Gabel of LeMars; two sisters, Opal Coates of Spokane, Wash., and Eva Brown and her husband, Kenneth of LeMars; her step-mother-in-law, Ferne Tindall of LeMars; grandchildren, Clark and his wife, Nancy Tindall of Akron, Craig Tindall of Irvine, Calif., and Brian and his wife, Trayce Fjestad of Grand Forks, N.D.; and a great-granddaughter, Katherine Anne Tindall.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Corbin, who was killed in the Viet Nam conflict; and two sisters, Ethel Rowe and Frances Bell.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Adaville United Methodist church with the Rev. Shirley Textor officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
