DEATH CLAIMS SAM DIEDIKER
Deceased Was Among the Early Settlers of this Community.

Death claimed Sam Diediker, a resident of Plymouth county for the past sixty years at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Clasen, in America township yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Diediker had been seriously ill for the past four months, the result of a stroke.

Mr. Diediker was 82 years of age and came to LeMars in 1870. He was engaged in freighting and teaming in his younger days and then engaged in farming near Crathorne.

On retiring from the farm he came to LeMars to live with his wife, who preceded him in death some years ago.

He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. H. F. Clasen, of LeMars, and his son, Sam Diediker, of Brunsville.

The funeral will held from the Clasen home at 2 o’clock Saturday and services will be held in the First Presbyterian Church at 2:30, the pastor, Dr. J. J. DePree, officiating and interment made in the city cemetery.

Obituary of Samuel Diediker.
Samuel Diediker, a resident of Plymouth county for over 60 years, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. F. Clasen on Thursday, September 17, 1931. He was born in Falheim, Switzerland on May 5, 1849, and was 82 years, 4 months and 12 days of age at the time of his death. He came to this country with his parents in 1861, locating at Saux City, Wis., where he lived on a farm until 1867, when he moved to Webster City, Iowa, and in 1870 he came to Plymouth county locating on a farm near James, Ia, and later lived for many years on a farm in Washington township. Retiring from the farm in 1917.

On February 7, 1878, he was united in marriage to Ada Peacock, who preceded him death two years ago, to this union two children were born. They are Mrs. Pearl Clasen and Samuel Diediker Jr. and one foster daughter, Mrs. O. H. Wallen of Chicago, Illinois, who made her home with the family for many years. He also leaves one brother and three sisters, they are John Diediker of Paola, Kansas; Mrs. Sarah Schweppe, of LeMars; and Mrs. Mary Plaff and Mrs. Kate Herman of Sioux City, Iowa.

He was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church of LeMars, Iowa.

The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Presbyterian Church. Rev. DePree officiating. Burial was in the LeMars cemetery.
