Note: His mother's obituary has been listed as Carlson and/or Anderson so I have included both.

Fred the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson south of town passed away at their home at about 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 9, 1924 after a two weeks illness of bronchial pneumonia. Fred Nelson was born at Ivoryton, Conn., June 5, 1910, and came here with his parents in 1917. He was a bright and gentleman lad, who everyone liked and admired,

He is survived by three brothers and three sisters; Harry at home; Ernest in Boston, Mass.; Edwin at home; Ruth of Iowa City; Hedwig of Boston and Edith at the State University, Iowa City.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. O. F. Bohman, Friday afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock at the home and at 2:15 o'clock in Immanuel church. Interment will be in Riverside cemetery.
