Alfred B. Hartman

AKRON—Alfred B. Hartman, 84, of Akron, died Saturday, July 20, 1991, at the Akron Care Center after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, with the Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Craig. Visitation will from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mr. Hartman was born July 12, 1907, in Plymouth County, near Adaville, rural Akron, the son of Ben H. and Trientje (Saathoff) Hartman. He married Helen M. Schulz Jan. 14, 1937, in Craig. He was in the trucking business for 18 years and then farmed for 20 years, retiring to Akron in 1973. He was a lifelong Plymouth County resident. Mr. Hartman was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives, Robert and Karen Hartman and Ronald and Rima Hartman all of Sioux City; and Gerald and Mary Hartman of Merrill; a daughter and her husband, Sandra and Bud Smith of Boone, eight grandchildren; and two brothers, George Hartman and William and his wife, Merva Hartman, all of Hawarden.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
