HARM TAPPER PASSES AWAY WAS POPULAR AND WELL-KNOWN RESIDENT OF PRESTON TOWNSHIP
Harm Ben Tapper a well known and respected farmer, of Preston township, died at the hospital in Akron, Sunday night, after a long illness at the age of 64 years and 11 months.
He leaves to mourn his death, his widow and seven grown children. They are; Mrs. Fred Klemme, John Henry Tapper, Harm Tapper, Ben Tapper, William Tapper, and the Misses Anna and Minnie Tapper. The children all live in the northwest part of Plymouth county.
Mr. Tapper was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, July 11, 1862. When he was grown to manhood, he was married to his wife who survives him, and soon afterward the young couple came to the United States. The couple lived in Springfield, 111., two years and then came to Plymouth county and settled in Preston Township. That was about forty years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Tapper farmed there for about ten years, then bought a farm near Brookings, S, D., and the family moved on the new place. How¬ ever, they stayed only two years in South Dakota. They sold their place and moved back to Akron, near where they bought a farm that has been their home ever since. Mr. Tapper was honored and respected by everyone that knew him. He was a good neighbor, husband, and father.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Lutheran church in Preston Township. Rev. Theo. Meyer will officiate. The funeral procession will leave the Tapper home at 1 o'clock
