Mrs. Brangwin Early Resident Taken By Death

Came To Plymouth County In the Days Of the English Colony

Death claimed Mrs. John G. Brangwin, 71, the resident of Plymouth county since the early eighties, at the home of her son, John Brangwin, 300 First. Avenue N W. Friday evening after an illness of ten days Mrs. Brangwin had been suffering from a severe cold and indisposition. About three weeks ago she suffered a fall and nervous shock which interfered with her recovery.

Mrs. Brangwin, a native of Ireland, came to America when a girl of seventeen, coming directly to Le Mars in the English Colony days and obtained employment with A.C. Sinclair family, which occupied the Stone House farm near Akron in those days.

Her maiden name was Isabelle Murphy and she was born December 29, 1865. She was united in marriage in 1886 in Le Mars with John G. Brangwin, the ceremony taking place in St. George's Episcopal church. Following their marriage, they lived in Akron and, Westfield vicinity and were employed for some years on the Walmsley ranch near Akron where Mr. Brangwin was foreman. They came to Le Mars in 1898I and the family made their home here since that time.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Brangwin, two of whom died in infancy. She leaves to mourn her death two sons and two daughters, Andrew Brangwin of Le Mars and John Brangwin, street commissioner of Le Mars; Mrs. Elizabeth Norris of Luverne, Minn., and Mrs. Margaret Booth of Alta, Iowa, and nine grandchildren. Her husband died eighteen years ago.

Mrs. Brangwin was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, a willing and helpful neighbor at all times. She possessed a character which sought the good in her associates and looked for the best in human beings. Her cheery attitude and view of life gained her many friends.

Funeral Held Monday

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at St. John's Lutheran church, Rev. L. L. Belk conducting the services, and interment was made in the city cemetery beside the remains of her husband.
