Mrs. Elk Taylor Widely Known Resident Dies
Was Wife Of One Of First Settlers

In Preston Township

Mrs. Elkanah Taylor, widely known resident of Plymouth county, died Sunday at her home in Preston township, following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Taylor was the wife of the late Elkanah Taylor, who was one of the earliest settlers in Preston township, preempting land in 1870, which he improved and became an extensive farmer.
Mrs. Taylor was born January 18, 1872 at Elizabeth, Illinois. Her maiden name was Anna Wainwright and she came to Plymouth county when a girl. She was united in marriage with Elkanah Taylor in October 1895. Two sons were born to them, Victor and William. William was the victim of an automobile accident in 1925. Her husband died in 1921.
She leaves her son, Victor, and two grandsons, Ralph and Robert; two sisters Mrs. Thos. Arnold, Warren, Ill., and Mrs. Harriet Henry, Freeport, Ill; two brothers, Charles Wainwright, Canton, Ill., and Lewis M. Wainwright, Warren, Ill.
Mrs. Taylor was a devoted wife and mother. She was active in community and church work and was one of the oldest members of the Plymouth Presbyterian church. She was beloved in the community for her neighborly acts, her kindly consideration for others, and her hospitable and generous ways.

Funeral Wednesday Afternoon

The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at the Plymouth Presbyterian church at Crathorne at 2 o’clock. Rev. W. E. Smith officiating and interment made in the family burying plot in the Le Mars cemetery.
