Mrs. Ray E. Allen
Mrs. Ray E. (Fern) Allen, 66, Alcester, did at her home Saturday (Dec. 15, 1984) of an apparent heart attack.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Schroeder funeral home in Akron. The Rev. Peter Peterson, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, Akron, officiated. Karen Clark was vocalist and Carol Harris, pianist. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Re. Walter Gowen officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Akron.
Pallbearers were Jody Frye, Jamie Frye, Jerry Frye, Gary Hanson, Merlin Jeffers, Marlin Jeffers, Robert Gray, Jr. and Rory Gray.
Mrs. Allen, the former Fern Elizabeth Rosenbaum, was born June 10, 1918 to Meredith and Elizabeth Carter Rosenbaum in Westfield, Iowa. She married Ray Allen May 22, 1937, in Elk Point. They farmed near Akron and Westfield for many years before moving to Sioux City in 1951. They moved back to Akron in 1972 and later moved to Alcester in 1976.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Larry of Alcester; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Gray of Sioux City; Mrs. Charlene Dean of Elk Point, Mrs. Roger (Beverly) Jeffers of Sioux City; 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Art and Main Jr., both of Akron; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Kathryn) Trefren of Akron.
