Evelyn E. Nash, 92, of Sioux City died Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at her home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Pastor Russell Senstad officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery, Plymouth County, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Evelyn Edna Pauline Kuehl was the third child born to Edward and Pauline (Johannsen) Kuehl in Jordan Township, Monona County, Iowa, on Oct. 12, 1914. She attended the Jordan Township 7 country school and graduated from Moorhead High School in Moorhead, Iowa, in 1932.

Evelyn met Alvin C. Nash in Omaha, and they were married on July 17, 1936, in Papillion, Neb. In 1939, they moved to Portland, Ore., where sons, Bruce and Roger, were born. It was in 1949 when the family moved to Sioux City, Alvin's hometown, where son, Jeffery, was born. Evelyn's beloved husband, Al, passed away in 1968.

Evelyn's passion for gardening turned into a career. She worked for Michael's Feed and Seed, Michael's Garden Center, Freizner's Nursery and Van's Old World Gardens, retiring in 1986. She was an avid gardener, quilter and an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Roger and Vicki Nash of Denham Springs, La., and Jeffery and Loretta Nash of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Kay Resel of Climbing Hill, Iowa; four grandsons, Luther Nash, Benjamin Nash, Jacob Nash and fiancee, Miranda Roberts, and Michael Nash; five granddaughters, Chelsea Nash and Alex Wolfe, Angela Nash, Kerri and Todd Burns, Amanda (Nash) and Matthew Secoske and Sarah Nash; three great-grandchildren, Rossignel Wolfe, Emma Secoske and Jack Secoske; and a special nephew, Don Burns and his wife, Karen of Fremont, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Nash; a son, Bruce Nash; her parents, Edward Kuehl and Pauline Kuehl Chapman Munster; two brothers, Ralph Kuehl and Merle Chapman Jr.; and a sister, Henrietta Kuehl Williams.
