Obituary for Arthur "Bud" J Braun

Arthur J. “Bud” Braun, 79 years old, of Remsen, IA died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at Omaha, NE after a brief illness.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct 22, 2010, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation will be anytime after 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010. There will be a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.

Art was born on May 5, 1931, at Alton, IA the son of Arthur A. & Bertha (Nieland) Braun. He was raised and educated in the Alton area and graduated in 1949 from St. Mary’s Academy in Alton.

On Oct. 9, 1951, he married Doris Staab. They made their home and started farming in Neptune before moving to Marcus in 1966 where they continued to farm until they retired in 1997 when they moved into Remsen.

Art was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 4th degree, member of Pheasants Forever and was the Pheasants Forever Habitat Award winner for 2010. Art enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing cards and loved to cook. Art’s family was his life and he never missed any sporting events that his kids were playing in.

Survivors include: his wife Doris of Remsen; His son Roger Braun & his wife Renee of Cherokee, IA; His son Richard Braun & his wife Rose Mary of Omaha, NE; His son Jerry Braun & his wife Carol of Remsen; His son Jim Braun of Marcus, IA; His son Fred Braun & his wife Misty of Elk Point, SD; His son Bill Braun & his wife Brenda of LeMars, IA; His daughter Marilyn Roarty & her husband Marty of Elkhorn, NE; His son Russ Braun & his wife Melodie of Adel, IA. 16) Grandchildren; 7)Great-grandchildren; One Sister, Rosemary Ortmann of LeMars, IA; One brother Tom Braun & his wife Charlene of Alton, IA; One step sister, Rosemary Iddings & her husband Chuck of Sioux Falls, SD; Two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Braun of Orange City, IA, Norma Schroeder & Irvin of Remsen; Two brothers-in-law, Milton Delperdang of Marcus, IA, Vernon Staab & his wife Edith of Remsen.

Preceded in death by, his parents, His step mother Dolorosa, One brother, Leo Braun, Two sisters, Kay Delperdang, Margaret Schreier & her husband Gib. One Brother-in-law, Cy Ortmann.

Casketbearers will be Erich, Andrew, Cody & Riley Braun, Nathen Rauch, Brandon Roarty.

Honorary bearers will be Art’s Children.

Honorary Bearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus.
