Loretta Porsch, 96, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Westfield, Iowa passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Touchstone Living Center in Sioux City.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015 at Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron. Pastor Steve Jewett from New Horizons United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Akron. Visitation with the family present will be from noon until service time on Friday at the funeral home.

Loretta Mary Wetrosky was born May 22, 1918 on a farm near Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Munsch) Wetrosky. She attended country school in near Kingsley.

She was united in marriage to Harry Porsch in 1936. Early on, they farmed near Kingsley, Iowa before moving to the Akron and Westfield to farm. Loretta worked at Otis Radio in Hawarden and later at Zenith in Sioux City. After retiring, they moved to Minnesota for a few years, before moving into Westfield. After returning, Loretta was involved with the “Green Thumb” reading program at the Westfield school and later at Akron-Westfield school. Harry passed away May 18, 1998. After Harold’s passing, Loretta moved to Sioux City. For the past 6 years, she has been a resident of Touchstone Living Center.

Loretta was a member of New Horizons United Church of Christ in Akron. Through the years, she enjoyed reading and cooking. She also had an interest for the space program. Loretta had a “soft heart” for pets. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include two daughters: Jean Smith of Sioux City and Joy Porsch of Akron; two sons: Neal Porsch of Sioux City and Gale (Ha) Porsch of Sioux City; a daughter in law: Karen Porsch of Sioux City; a son in law: James Heck of Sergeant Bluff, IA; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; a brother in law: Carl Jahn of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; a son: Terry Porsch; a daughter: Judy Heck; two sons in law: Joe Caskey and Darius Smith; 5 brothers; and 6 sisters.
