Wilma Morehead, 93, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Akron, Iowa passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at Casa De Paz in Sioux City, Iowa.

A Prayer Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron. Reverend Scott Squires of Crescent Park United Methodist Church in Sioux City will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family present will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

Wilma Grace Morehead was born October 6, 1920 in Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Marion and Ruby (Jones) Morehead. She attended May country school near Adaville, rural Merrill, Iowa. Following her schooling, she moved with grandmother to Le Mars, Iowa.

Later, she moved to an apartment in Sioux City. For the past several years, she has been a resident of Casa De Paz in Sioux City.

Through the years, Wilma enjoyed embroidering and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include her siblings: Geraldine Swisher of Harlan, IA, and Juanita (LeRoy) Sands of Sioux City, IA; two nieces: Judy (Bob) Hoogensen of Harlan, IA, and Pam (Pat) Galagher of Elkhorn, IA; two nephews: Todd (Diane) Sands of Sioux City, IA, and Michael (Weyna) Sands of Homer, GA; two special cousins: Nancy Gran of Sioux City, IA, and Patricia Silhacek of North Sioux City, SD; and 3 great nieces and 6 great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Marion and Ruby Morehead; her step mother: Irene Morehead; her brother: Marvin Morehead; and a niece: Lucinda Sands.
