CHATSWORTH, Iowa - Gerhard "Gary" Moller, 76, of Chatsworth died unexpectedly Friday, Nov. 28, 1997, at his residence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Plymouth Presbyterian Church in rural Akron, Iowa, with the Rev. Randall Knuth officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 915 of Elk Point, S.D. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Mr. Moller was born Aug. 30, 1921, in rural Akron, the son of John and Johanna (Nielsen) Moller. He attended school in rural Akron.
He married Cecilia Collmann on Dec. 29, 1947, in rural Akron. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. The couple farmed for 30 years prior to moving to Chatsworth in 1978. He was a carpenter until retiring in 1996.
He was a member of Plymouth Presbyterian Church, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and several bowling leagues in Akron. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, gardening and carpentry.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Gary and Maria of Bellevue, Neb. and Jim and Patti of Grimes, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Kenneth Johnson of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandsons; four great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, John and Lillian of Craig, Iowa and Robert and Velma of Hawarden, Iowa; a sister, Ann Anderson of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Henry.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Moller, Kyle, Kaun and Kenneth Johnson, Michael Laney and Dale Griger.
