Obituary for Shirley Rohlfsen

Huntington Beach, California, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars.

Private family services and interment will be held at a later date. The Mauer- Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars is assisting Shirley’s family with arrangements

Shirley Mae Rohlfsen was born on March 7, 1925 in Marcus, Iowa to George and Lydia (Kilker) Rohlfsen. The family moved to Le Mars, Iowa where Shirley attended school. She graduated from Le Mars High School and soon after moved to California. Shirley worked as an accounting supervisor for many years at Bergen and Brunswick Pharmaceuticals. She retired and remained in California for several more years.

Shirley returned to Le Mars on November 1, 2007 and became a resident at Park Place Estates. During her retirement years Shirley enjoyed golfing, the theater, and reading.

She is survived by a sister-in-law Lillian Rohlfsen of Le Mars, IA; a brother-in-law Robert Becker of Cleghorn, IA; nieces and nephews Tom and Myrna Rohlfsen of Tampa, FL, David and Terri Rohlfsen of Le Mars, IA, Jim and Georgia Rohlfsen, of Le Mars, IA; Millie Gearke of Le Mars, IA; Gary and Marlene Gearke of Le Mars, IA, Robert and Vycie Gearke of Raytown, Missouri, Kurt Becker of Cleghorn, IA and Lisa Lewis of San Diego, CA.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Ruth Gearke and Betty Becker; brothers Herbert, Stanley and Russell Rohlfsen; and a nephew Rod Gearke.
