Madonna Mae Boetger, 86 of Akron, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Unity Point Health - St. Luke's in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron, Iowa with Chaplain Lorna Peters officiating. Visitation with the family present will be from noon until the start of the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Akron Children's Center.

Madonna Mae Heyl was born on November 21, 1929 in Akron, Iowa to Ralph and Margaret (Hoffmann) Heyl. She graduated from Akron High School in 1948. Madonna was united in marriage to Darrell Boetger on October 20, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa. After high school, she began working as a clerk and bookkeeper for Thorson Drug in Akron, Iowa and retired in 1995 after being there for 35 years. She then worked at the Akron Children's Center for 5 years. Darrell passed away November 14, 1997. In April of 2012, Madonna became a resident at Ridgewood Apartments in Akron. She later moved to the Akron Care Center in October of 2014. Madonna was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A in Akron and there was actively involved in the W.E.L.C.A. She was also a member of the Legion Auxiliary and the Akron Senior Center. Her favorite hobbies were crocheting, ceramics, and reading.

Madonna is survived by her son, Doug (Deb) Boetger of Lawton, IA; two grandchildren: Ryan Boetger of Omaha, NE and Caitlin Boetger of Lawton, IA; a brother, Milton (Vinnie) Heyl of Sheldon, IA; a sister, Beverly (Ray) Koopman of Fall City, NE; a sister-in-law, Olive Boetger of Akron, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrell; sisters; Eleanor Ruble and Dorothy Daily.
