Arlin A. Beeck, 57, of Akron, Iowa passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron. Reverend Jean Morse will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011, with the family present after 5:00 p.m., and a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at the church. The Carlsen Funeral Home - Schroeder Chapel in Akron is in charge of arrangements.

Beeck was born December 24, 1953 in Akron, Iowa, the son of Albert and Betty (Willer) Beeck. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. Arlin was raised near Akron and attended country school and later graduated from Akron High School. He attended college at the University of South Dakota. After a year of college, Arlin went to work for the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa as an E.M.T. and Orderly. It was during this time that he met his future wife, Charlotte. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Ann Ritchey on October 24, 1975 in Vermillion, SD. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Denison. Later on, Arlin went to work for I.B.P. in Denison before moving to Oto, Iowa in 1986. Arlin worked as a farm hand and raised hogs until beginning his 24 year career as an over the road truck driver. After living in Oto for some years, he and Charlotte moved to Centerville, SD. In July of 2010, Arlin retired due to his health and he and Charlotte moved to Akron. Arlin became a resident of the Akron Care Center. Arlin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. He enjoyed playing in the Akron Care Center Bell Choir. Through the years, Arlin loved the outdoors, especially going fishing and hunting. Arlin loved animals and collecting "eagle" collectibles and figurines. In his younger years, Arlin loved drag racing and participated for several years at Thunder Valley Raceway in Marion, South Dakota. He also loved to watch NASCAR and his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Arlin will be remembered by many for his sense of humor and his respect and care of others. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his parents, Albert and Betty Beeck of Akron, Ia.; his wife of over 36 years, Charlotte of Akron; their children: Pam Weyen of Sloan, IA, Keith Ritchey (Deb) of Greenwood, IN, and Kevin Ritchey of Minneapolis, MN; his Mother-in-law, Alice Peterson of Centerville, So.Dak.; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a brother: Allen Beeck (Valere) of Akron; a sister: Judy Schink (Gene) of San Leon, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
