AKRON, Iowa - Margaret Catherine Kaeberle, 97, of Akron died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at the Convalescent Care Center in Akron.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron with the Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Private graveside services will be held prior to the memorial service. There will be no visitation. The Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kaeberle was born March 30, 1902, in rural Clay County, S.D., the daughter of Andrew and Catherine (Asmussen) Hansen. She attended Lincoln School in Norway Township.

She married Walter Kaeberle March 10, 1925, in Vermillion, S.D. The couple made their home in Norway Township for 40 years. When they retired in 1965, they moved to Akron. He died in 1987.

She was baptized in 1902 and confirmed at the Bergen Lutheran church in 1917. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron where she belonged to the W.E.L.C.A. and the Martha Circle. She was a member of the Roving Gardeners Club. She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, crocheting and playing cards.

Survivors include a son, Merlin and his wife, Berdine, of Ames, Iowa; two daughters, Arley Philips and her husband, Jason, of Akron and Donna Westphal and her husband, Dale, of Southern Pines, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Reid Philips, Paul Philips, Paige Philips Cook, Jeff Kaeberle, Lance Kaeberle, Carla Kaeberle Dewalt, Jennifer Westphal McKinney, Allison Westphal Dembart and Jason Westphal; 14 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melanie Philips, and seven sisters, Tillie Stricker, Mary Staum, Anna Erickson, Metha Kryger, Christina Ulvog, Clara Danielson and Alice Lund, and a brother in infancy.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or a charity of choice.
