Dorothy Mae DeYoung was born on January 10, 1934 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Hattie (Briese) Reich. She grew up and attended school in Le Mars. Dorothy married Roger De Young in May of 1951 at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. The couple kept very busy operating several family businesses through the years.

Dorothy was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. She enjoyed serving on the Altar Guild for many years. She also enjoyed her time working at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center with the dear friends she made there. In her free time she loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed baking and cooking along with family fishing and lake trips. She also enjoyed their annual trips to California and Las Vegas with family and friends. In more recent years Dorothy was always ready for a shopping and lunch date to Sioux City or Omaha.

She is survived by her four children, Vicki (Tim) Bainbridge of Sioux City, Iowa, Randall (Cindy) DeYoung of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Candy (Jan) Wagner and Deb (Al) Pottebaum both of Le Mars, Iowa; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen (the late Wayne) Kenowith and Shirley (Chet) Mesner both of Le Mars; a brother, Rollie (the late Pauline) Reich of Lincoln, Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; son, Roger DeYoung Jr.; and several brothers and sisters.

Dorothy M. DeYoung, 79, of Le Mars, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society-Le Mars, in Le Mars.

In accordance with Dorothy's wishes, private family funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Timothy Geitz officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars.
