Obituary for Elizabeth Beach

Bettie Beach, 85, of Le Mars passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 16, 2015. Funeral services will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. Gary Landsness will officiate. A family graveside service will follow on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Pallbearers will be Bettie’s family.

Elizabeth Margaret Beach was born on January 14, 1930 in Marcus, Iowa, one of 16 children born to Cletus and Adeline (Dickson) Bohlke. She was raised in the Le Mars area and graduated from Le Mars High School in 1948. On September 17, 1949 Bettie and John William Beach were united in marriage at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. Along with raising her children, Bettie worked at Harrison’s, Lally’s Eastside Restaurant and the Le Mars Daily Sentinel.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. She volunteered her time at the Christian Needs Center. In her spare-time, Bettie enjoyed crafts, reading, flower gardening and garage sales. She was very proud of her family and loved the time spent with her grandchildren. She also loved her grand cat Morgan.

Bettie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dan (Rhonda) Beach of Le Mars, IA, Bill Beach of Le Mars, IA, Brad (Renee) Beach of Sioux City, IA, David (Laurel) Beach of Fair Oaks, CA, Becki (Joe) Flannery of Hinton, IA, Barb (Wes) Whitead of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren, Beau, Betsy, Kym, Kyle, Kate, Chad, Corey, Sara, Brady, Alex, Conner, Nathan and Andrew; 10 great-grandchildren; nine siblings, Mary Ruhland of Hawarden, IA, Connie (Larry) Schlabach of Davenport, IA, Nancy (Jim) Pearson of Le Claire, IA, Cindy (Kelly) Ingenthron of Sioux City, IA, Chuck (Niecy) Bohlke of Le Mars, IA, Mike (Linda) Bohlke of Westfield, IA, Dennis (Dottie) Bohlke of Hawarden, IA, Rick (Mary Kay) Bohlke of Henderson, NV and Lori (Phil) Shively of Boulder, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John William on September 1, 2007; a granddaughter, Amy Beach in 1992; a daughter-in-law, Mary Beach in May 10, 2013; siblings, Jean (Ray) Mohrhauser, Juletta (Russ) Carney, Tom (JoAnn) Bohlke, Bob (Eleanor) Bohlke, Ken Bohlke and Ron Bohlke.
