Donna Mae Greene, 79, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away early Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at her home in Le Mars.

Her funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the First Baptist Church, Le Mars, Iowa with Reverend Jon Meredith officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be after 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 14th at the church with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service at the church Friday evening. Visitation will continue Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Arrangements are with the Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars. Memorials can be directed to Life Skills Training Center in Le Mars. Pallbearers will be Mike Greene, Ned Rohwedder, Ed Engelbretson, Clarence Engelbretson, Charles Engelbretson, and Fremont Greene.

Donna Mae Krumel was born January 31, 1933 in Fremont, Nebraska to Clarence and Ruth (Peterson) Krumel. Donna graduated from Freemont High School. Donna was united in marriage to C. Gordon Greene on August 17, 1951 in Seatle, Washington. The family moved to Le Mars, Iowa in 1969. She was employed as a school secretary at Franklin Elementary School and latter at Clark Elementary School in Le Mars from 1973 until her retirement in 1990. Donna and Gordon have been members of the First Baptist Church for over 43 years. Donna was on the original building committee for the present church. She has been on the Diaconate Board for several years. The church always an important part of her life; she was always willing to volunteer whenever needed. Donna enjoyed decorating her home for the seasons, sewing, caring for flowers and extending her hospitality to family and friends. She and Gordon enjoyed traveling to visit their family. Often making trips for births, graduations, and weddings. Donna planned the Greene Family yearly vacation to Ottertail Lake, near Battle Lake, Minnesota for 37 years. She and Gordon truly enjoyed spending the week with family. Donna and Gordon also enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States together during retirement.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Gordon of Le Mars; 3 children and families: Cindy Rohwedder and her husband Ned of Olin, Iowa and their children: Laura Rohwedder, Rachel (Tim) Ahrendson, Grace (Chuck) Varnum, Ruth (Danny) Houston, and Ida (Miles) Weber; Mike Greene and his wife Deanna of Houston, Texas and their children: Fremont (Kimberly) Greene, Rachel (Robert) DeSonier, Amelia Greene, and Abby Greene; Janice Engelbretson and her husband Ed of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and their children: Marybeth, Clarence, and Charles Engelbretson; 7 great grandchildren; a brother, Bill Krumel and his wife Nancy of Houston, Texas; and a brother-in-law, Dr. John Greene and his wife Joan of Flathead Lake, Montana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ruth (Peterson) Krumel; a brother Michael in infancy; and an infant granddaughter Faith Rohwedder.
