William Herman Bohlen

William Herman Bohlen, 92, of Akron, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 21, 1995, at the Akron Care Center after a brief illness.

Services were held Saturday, November 25, at Trinity Lutheran Church, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Akron, Iowa with the Rev. Allen Bidne officiating.

Music was “How Great Thou Art” and “He Touched Me” sung by Gary Tucker; “What A Friend” and “Amazing Grace” sung by the congregation. Marietta Nielsen, was organist. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, under direction of Schroder Funeral Home, Akron.

Casket bearers were David Foote, Dale Foote, Daryl Foote, Allen Berg, Gene Eddorf, Don Conry, Bill Miller, and Jerald Dykstra.

Mr. Bohlen was born June 20, 1903, in Mount Olive, Illinois, the son of Herman and Anna (Stein) Bohlen. He attended the Akron City School. He married Carrie Kelley at Adaville, Iowa, April 24, 1932. He worked on several farms until he went to California and then on t Kansas City where he worked in a steel plant on Government projects for 25 years.

He had lived in Akron and had moved to Spencer, Iowa; California and Kansas City before returning to Akron in 1968 when he retired. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. He was a funeral usher for many years.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Virginia and her husband Rev. Willie Foote of Decatur, Georgia; three sisters, Helene Weseman of Paulina, Iowa; Lois Mieras of Carrollton, Texas; and Anna Krick Auen of Dennison, Iowa; three grandsons and six great-grandchildren, all from Georgia: David and Barbara Foote, Ashley, Adam and Austin; Dale and Cooper Foote, Jordan and McKenna; Daryl and Brenda Foote and Justin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
