Obituary for Edward Kilker

Le Mars, Iowa – Edward A. Kilker, 83, of Le Mars, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. Funeral services will take place Monday March 4, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday March 3 with the family present from 5-7 and a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, Le Mars.

Edward Albert Kilker was born on December 15, 1929 in Le Mars, Iowa to William and Anna (Adden) Kilker. He attended school near his home on the farm. He received his GED later in life. On January 29, 1952 Edward was inducted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country until earning his Honorable Discharge on January 26, 1954.

On October 1, 1954 Edward and Mae Lundquist were united in marriage at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars. They made their home on the farm. Along with farming, Ed worked for a few years at Swift Packing in Sioux City and maintained four farms. He retired from farming in 2004 but he and Mae remained on the farm.

Ed was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars. He enjoyed attending parades, county fairs and farm auctions. He was an O’s Gold Seed Corn Dealer as well.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Mae of Le Mars, IA; children and their spouses, Mitzi and Mike Cascketta of Phoenix, AZ, Marilyn and Dave Palmer of Le Mars, IA, Kevin and Michele Kilker of Chandler, AZ, Shelly and Steve Eppling of Hinton, IA and Keith Kilker of Le Mars, IA; grandchildren Heidi Urbanski, Paula Leverenz, Brett (fiancé Chelsea) Cascketta, Bryan Cascketta, Kelli Palmer, Kim (Patrick) Burke, Lori (Luke) Bodeen, Kevin (Jessica) Kilker, Kyle Kilker, Craig (special friend April) Martfeld and Megan (Cory) Arens; great-grandchildren, Chris and Edie Urbanski, Kaylin Rolle, Kassidy, Mackenzie and Zachary Burke, Lance and Levi Bodeen, Leala Martfeld and Callie Arens; a sister-in-law Dorothy Kilker of Remsen, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Kassandra Kilker, mother and father-in-law, Sena and Everett Lundquist; sisters and their husbands, Lorraine and Harry Brunkhorst and Ruth and Loren Behrens; and a brother, Robert Kilker.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Behrens, Ken Kilker, Bill Kilker, Dave Palmer, Mike Cascketta and Steve Eppling
