Le Mars, Iowa - Lillian Rohlfsen, 92, of Le Mars passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012 at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars.

A private family funeral service will take place at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars with Rev. Greg Gabriel from St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery. A visitation for the public will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 p.m. to greet friends.

Lillian Marie Rohlfsen was born on February 12, 1920 in Le Mars, the daughter of Herman and Anna (Molzen) Frerichs. As a young child she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Lil graduated from Le Mars High School in 1937. She earned a certificate in Normal Training and began teaching in rural schools.

On January 21, 1942 Lil and Stanley Rohlfsen were united in marriage at St. John's American Lutheran Church in Le Mars. The couple made their home on a farm south of Le Mars where they raised their three sons. Stanley passed away on February 10, 1988. Lil was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. She taught Sunday School, Catechism, and served on the Altar Guild. She also belonged to the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church (WELCA) and participated in Leah Circle. In addition to her church activities Lil enjoyed reading and knitting. She also looked forward to any time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Thomas and his wife Myrna of Tampa, FL, James and his wife Georgia of Le Mars, IA, and a daughter-in-law Terry Rohlfsen also of Le Mars, IA ; grandchildren and their spouses Robin and Brad Jurrens of Highlands Ranch, CO, Tracey and Ron Wigginton of Tampa, FL, Todd and Joanne Rohlfsen of Valrico, FL, Ryan and Cindy Rohlfsen of Chicago, II, and Matt and Dorotha Rohlfsen of Omaha, NE ; great-grandchildren Kayla and Connor Jurrens, Carson and Cole Wigginton, Sarah Rohlfsen, Cameron and Jordyn Rohlfsen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stanley; son David on January 6, 2011, and sister Shirley.
