Jeannine M. Kleihauer, 79, of Brunsville, Iowa passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church, Grant Township, rural Le Mars, Iowa with Reverend Ben Worley officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at the church form 10:00 a.m. until service time. Memorials can be directed to Christ Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer''s Association, Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Lundgren, Steve Crane, Tim Wilberding, Eric Orban, John Downey, and Brian Orban.

Jeannine Marie, the daughter of Gladys Lundgren, was born on the family farm in Fredonia Township, rural Le Mars, Iowa on February 13, 1934. Jeannine attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1952. While in high school she worked Bud''s Grocery store in Le Mars. Jeannine was united in marriage to John Ferris on June 8, 1952 at the First United Methodist Church in Le Mars. The couple farmed in the Pierson and Oyens, Iowa area for the first 4 years of marriage. In 1956 the couple moved to Riverside, California and Jeannine worked as a band teller. The couple returned to Iowa in 1965 where Jeannine worked for Toy National Bank in Sioux City and later for Le Mars Savings Bank. In 1972, the couple purchased a resort on Rush Lake, near Ottertail, Minnesota and operated the resort until 1978. They enjoyed spending the winters in Lincoln and Sioux City were Jeannine worked in local banks. After selling the resort, they returned to Iowa and purchased a home in Brunsville. She returned to the banking industry having continued her career working for Toy National Bank in Sioux City, First National Bank in Le Mars, and later for the Co-op Credit Union. In later years she worked for Bomgaars. Her husband, John Ferris passed away in May of 1990. She retired in October of 1990.

On December 13, 1991, Jeannine was united in marriage to Gerhard Otto Keihauer. The couple lived on the Kleihauer family farm and later moved to Brunsville in 2002. Jeannine was a longtime member of the First United Church in Le Mars; where she enjoyed participating in the choir, Peace Circle, Mission Festival, and sang for countless funerals. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines and the Four Season Garden Club of Brunsville. In March of 2012, she joined Christ Lutheran Church in Grant Township. She also enjoyed music, dancing, fishing, traveling, playing cards, visiting and corresponding with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Otto Kleihauer of Brunsville; a sister, Sharon Albro and her husband John of Branson, MO; a cousin, Dennis Lundgren of Le Mars; a step-daughter, Susan Orban and her husband Ken of Le Mars; a sister-in-law, Karen Patterson of Taylorsville, KY; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys ; step-fathers, Arnold Patterson and Bill Harms; and a brother, Larry Patterson.
