Hinton, Iowa - Randall R. "Randy" Wiener, 56, of rural Hinton, Iowa passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011 following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars, Iowa. Rev. Greg Gabriel will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled at 7:15 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service on Thursday.

Randall Ray Wiener was born on May 7, 1955 in Le Mars, Iowa to Albert and Elda (Ludwig) Wiener. He attended school in Hinton, Iowa where he graduated from high school in 1973. Randy continued his education at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. He majored in Industrial Arts Education and received his diploma in 1977. Randy moved to Mallard, Iowa where he taught Industrial Arts and was a drivers education instructor during the summer months.

Randy returned to the family farm and joined in a farming partnership with his brothers Mike and Ernie in the early 1980’s. He also began working at the Hinton Farmers Coop in 2000 and worked there for the next nine years. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars where he ushered and played on the softball team. Randy was an avid bowler and an Iowa Hawkeye, Miami Dolphins and New York Yankees fan. He taught each of his nieces and nephews how to fish and looked forward to an annual fishing trip he took with his family. He also enjoyed hog roasting with friends and family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his four brothers, Darrell and Janet of Hinton, IA, Michael of Hinton, IA, Arnold and Kelly of Schaller, IA, and Leland of Kingsley, IA; six sisters, Glenda Wiener of Le Mars, IA, Arlene Wiener of Le Mars, IA, Marylyn and Don Muecke of Hinton, IA, LaVonne of Hinton, IA, Elaine and James Droegmiller of Cushing, IA, and Pat and Jim Verrips of Sheldon, Iowa; a sister-in-law Doris Wiener of Humboldt, Iowa; 13 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles Elfrieda Ludwig of Merrill, IA, Jim and Naoma Peterson of Aberdeen, SD, Eugene Taute of Le Mars, IA, Gertrude Wiener of Coralville, IA, and Gail Wiener of Le Mars, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Thomas and Ernest; and two infant brothers, James and Carmen.
