LE MARS, Iowa - Irene LaVern "Ike" Ross, 82, of Le Mars died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at The Abbey in Le Mars.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Jean Morse of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ross was born July 10, 1918, in Westfield, Iowa, the daughter of Claire and Kathryn (Schramm) Bradley. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was raised in Le Mars and attended the Le Mars School system.

She married Elmer C. Ross on Jan. 1, 1938, in Elk Point, S.D. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the grocery and meat business in Le Mars. The couple retired in 1981. Her husband died Nov. 23, 1992. She had been a resident of The Abbey for one year.

She enjoyed golfing, playing cards, bowling and gardening.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Roberta and Duane Rath of Fremont, Neb.; four sons, Curtis and his wife, Mary Lou of Le Mars, Scott and his wife, Dianne, Bradley and Bill, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Lula Schultz of Boise, Idaho; and a brother-in-law, Ray Barthole of Deer Park, Wash.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, one in infancy and William Bradley; and four sisters, Dorothy Naryka, Helen Plendl, Lillian Bradley and Ruth Barthole.
