REMSEN, Iowa -- Ruth M. Bunkers, 84, of Remsen passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Revs. William McCarthy and Timothy Johnson, Monsignor Nicholas J. Ruba and Revs. James Tigges, Richard Sizmann and Richard Ball officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a 3 p.m. rosary by St. Mary's Guild and Catholic Daughters of America, and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Ruth was born May 6, 1922, in Le Mars, Iowa, to John "Jack" and Mary (Robinet) Boever. She was raised in the Remsen area and received her education at St. Mary's Catholic School in Remsen.

On Sept. 2, 1941, she married LeRoy Bunkers at Remsen, where they made their home. They operated the Bunkers Dairy in Remsen from 1942 until 1964, where she was the bookkeeper. She also owned a home business, Amway and Amzoil distributorships.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, church Guild and Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed baking, bowling, reading, collecting roosters, sewing and mending, playing cards, golfing, camping and fishing. Ruth especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, which included Ella, the neighbor's dog.

Survivors include five daughters and their husbands, Diane and Louis Offerman of California, Mo., Karen and Joe Hermes of Le Mars, Iowa and Palm Springs, Calif., Kristine and Tony Full of Alton, Iowa, Susie and Doug Ruhland and Bonnie and Rich Arens, all of Remsen; two sons and their wives, Gary and Martha of Lakeville, Minn. and Philip and Shannon of Rogers, Minn; 24 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Harpenau of Remsen; a brother, James and his wife, Jeanette Boever of Remsen; three sisters-in-law, Armella Loesche, Ginger Bunkers and Esther Bunkers, all of Remsen; a brother-in-law, Dale and his wife, Mary Bunkers of Granville, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers-in-law, Al Harpenau, Gilbert Loesche, Vernon Bunkers, Louis Bunkers and Cletus and his wife, Adeline Bunkers; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Marina and Sylvester Kobberman and Doris and Paul Kestel.

Pallbearers will be Louis Offerman, Joe Hermes, Tony Full, Doug Ruhland, Rich Arens, Michael Bunkers, Dan Harpenau and Pat Boever.
