Mrs. Delbert L. Waterbury

Mrs. Delbert L. (Vivian) Waterbury, 95, of Akron, died Wednesday (Dec. 23, 1987) in the Akron City Convalescent Care Center after a long illness.

Services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Schroeder funeral home in Akron. The Rev. Elmer Hodge officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. Pall bearers were Bob Lanning, darcy Fletcher, Church Hendricks, Larry Knecht, Richard Langley and Kevin Lewison.

Mrs. Waterbury, the former Vivian Virginia Akers, was born April 9, 1892, in Virginia, to Edward and Bettie Francis Akers. She married Delbert L. Waterbury Aug. 19, 1929, in Le Mars. The couple operated the Waterbury Dairy in Akron for many years. Mr. Waterbury died several years ago.

Survivors include two sons, Harold Gillespie of Brainerd, Minn., and William R. Gillspie of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Eula Dickson of Wichita, Kan., and Maxie Weeks of St. Paul, Minn., and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a son, Earl Gillespie.
