Frank J. Dobbert was born Dec. 25, 1867, near La Porte City in Black Hawk County, Iowa, and was the youngest of a family of seven. When a child of two years the family came to Plymouth County and settled in Stanton Township. Here he received his education in the public schools, later attending the normal school at Le Mars.

When a boy he joined the Evangelical church, of which his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dobbert, were staunch members. In March, 1895, he was united in marriage to Miss Anne Schumann, also a resident of Stanton, and here they established their home and farmed until 1912, when he disposed of his farm and bought the Joe Kruse place near Struble in Sherman twp. Sioux County, which has been his home since.

About 10 years ago his health broke down. He want to various places and specialists to get relief. For the past six months he has failed rapidly and three weeks ago it became evident to his loved ones that the end was near. He was nursed faithfully with love and patience by his wife and children and on Thursday evening he quietly fell asleep and his soul passed to the great beyond.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, five sons and one daughter: Clarence, Struble; Mrs. Carl Wilde, Elgin twp.; and Roy, Minert, Arthur and Leland at home. Two sisters, Mrs. Fred Dralle of Yankton, S. D., and Mrs. A. Pfister of Ponca, Neb., besides numerous friends who will remember him as a loyal friend and neighbor, also mourn his loss.
