Mrs. Floyd Wilcox, 57, Akron, died Thursday (March 18, 1982) in St. Luke's medical center, Sioux City, after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist church in Akron. The Rev. Peter Peterson, pastor of the Wesley United Methodist church officiated. Gary Tucker, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art", accompanied by Mrs. Genevieve Fickhohm, pianist. Burial was in Riverside cemetery in Akron, under direction of Schroeder funeral home. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Casketbearers were Ford Hansen, Joe Wise, Ellis Tucker, Floyd Lennon, Walter Searls, and Eldon Seely.

Mrs. Wilcox, the former Maxine Lake, was born July 18, 1924, in Akron and was a lifelong resident. Her parents were the late Arvel and Mildred Lake. She married Floyd Wilcox March 8, 1946, in Akron. She was an active member of the First Baptist church, a member of Hoschler post 186, American Legion auxiliary, and a member of the women's bowling association. Mrs. Wilcox was employed at the Akron city hospital until her illness, and also a former employee of the Akron Hi-Way Cafe.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd; two sons, Terry of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Steve of Akron; three daughters. Mrs. David (Pam) Schuetz of Odessa, Texas; Mrs. Gary (Cheryl) Henneous of Sioux City; and Mrs. Butch (Debbie) Anderson of Chatsworth; two brothers, A.M. "Jack" Lake of Sioux City and Wilmer Lake of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs. Blythe (Marge) McGuier of Paradise, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Jerry in 1963.
