Note: The gravestone spells his first name as Dwane. His mother's maiden name was Button.

Last Rites for Duane Caskey Are Held Here on Tuesday Afternoon

Duane Caskey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Caskey, south of town, passed away at the Akron Hospital, Sunday, May 15, 1938, following an operation for acute appendicitis on Saturday, aged 11 years, 6 months, and 26 days.

Duane Emery Caskey was born October 19, 1926, at Akron, Iowa, and resided in this vicinity during his lifetime.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Caskey, of Westfield, Iowa, and seven brothers and four sisters--Harley, Harold, Eldon, Raymond, Freeman, Darrell and Bernice, all at home; Charles Jr., and Mrs Luverne Peck both of Akron; Mrs. Clarence Talbot, of Elk Point, S. D. , and Mrs. William Harkness, of Tacoma, Wash.; also by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Caskey and Mrs. Florence Maxwell, all of Des Moines, Iowa, as well as a host; of other relatives and friends.

One brother preceded him in death.

He was a bright and lovable lad, and his sad and untimely death comes as a hard blow untimely death comes as a hard blow to those near and dear to him, to whom the community offers its sincere sympathy.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Akron Christian church, conducted by Rev. W. J. Zane, the pastor, Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
