FRANK REEMTS IS CALLED BY DEATH LAST WEDNESDAY

Rites Are Held Sunday For Long-Time Resident Of This Vicinity

Frank Reemts, a resident of this vicinity since early boyhood, passed away Wednesday morning, May 9, 1951, at the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City, after a several months' illness, at the age of 73 years, 2 months, and 24 days.

Frank Reemts was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, February 15, 1878, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reemts. He was bapited into the Lutheran faith as an infant. at the age of three years he accompanied his parents to America. They arrived here in 1883 and settled at Forreston, Illinois. They moved westward to Iowa and made their home in Preston township, Plymouth county, where Frank spent his early years.

He became a member of St. John's Lutheran church, Preston township, in confirmation, with Rev. Theodore Meyer as pastor. His entire life was devoted to farming, with the majority of his work in Union county, South Dakota.

The last eight years he had spent in retirement with his sisters, Mrs. Kate Borchers and Mrs. Ida Ross.

He leaves to mourn his passing, two sisters, Mrs. John Borchers, of Akron, and Mrs. Ida Ross, of Portland, Oregon; one brother, Herman Reemts, many other relatives, and a host of friends, all of whom will sincerely miss this esteemed citizen.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Rossow Funeral Home in Akron and at St. John's Lutheran church in Preston township, conducted by the pastor, Rev. E. J. Frueling and Mr. Hilbert Hennings, with accompaiment by Mrs. E. J. Beckmann. Pallbearers were George Renken, Louis Halweg, Carl Halweg, Norman Heeren, Elmer Borchers, and Louis Frerichs. Interment was in the St. John's Lutheran cemetery.
