Naomi Fletcher, 89, of Akron, Iowa passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Akron Care Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron. Reverend Jean Morse will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, with the family present after 6:00 p.m., and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron. Naomi Norma Flora Steinert was born April 21, 1923 in Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Flora (Reemts) Steinert. She attended country school in Union County, South Dakota and later high school in Akron. She graduated from Akron High School in 1941.

She was united in marriage to Elmo Fletcher on June 22, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. They farmed together in Union County, South Dakota on the homestead. In 1962, they moved to a farm south of Akron. They retired from farming in 1987. Elmo passed away February 13, 2010. Shortly thereafter, she became a resident of the Akron Care Center.

Naomi was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Through the years, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafts, baking, and fishing. She had a eye for photography. She also enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her 3 children: Sharon Jackson (Marlyn) of Plymouth, MN, Robert Fletcher (Gloria) of rural Akron, SD, and Nancy Enstrom (Floyd) of rural Akron, IA; 3 grandchildren: Jon Jacobs and his daughter, Isabella of rural Akron, IA, Tom Jacobs (Kelly) and their children, Sloan and Flynn of Buffalo, MN, and Jerod Enstrom of Bentonville, AR; 2 step grandchildren: Davidjon Kaberna (Janet) of Elk Point, SD, and Damon Kaberna (Tonya) of Wapella, IL; a brother in law: Darcy Fletcher of Sergeant Bluff, IA; a sister in law: Margaret Fletcher of Des Plaines, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Elmo.

Memorials can be made in Naomi’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or Trinity Lutheran Church.
