JOHN REEMTS IS CALLED BY DEATH LAST THURSDAY

Rites For Well Known Akron Man Are Held Sunday Afternoon

John Reemts, a resident of Akron vicinity for nearly sixty years, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 1943, at 1:45 p.m., of cerebral hemorrhage, at the age of 61 years, 4 months, and 17 days.

John Reemts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reemts was born in Germany, November 24, 1881. At the age of one and a half years he accompanied his parents to America, they arriving in 1883 and settling at Foreston, Illinois. From there they came to Iowa and located in Johnson township, Plymouth county, where he spent his boyhood and was confirmed in the Johnson township Lutheran church by Rev. Meyer.

On June 7, 1911, he was united in marriage with Miss Anna Eliabeth Kiewel at the home of her parents in Union county, S. D. He engaged in farming, stock raising and stock buying here for a number of years and was widely known.

Mr. Reemts is survived by his wife, Anna, of Sioux City, Iowa; a daughter, Mrs. Esther Halweg, of Le Mars, Iowa, and two sons, Sgt. Russell Reemts, with the United States army in New Guinea, South Pacific, and Pvt. Arden Reemts, stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; also by two brothers, Herman and Frank Reemts, of Akron; three sisters, Mrs. John Borchers, of Akron; Mrs. Ida Ross, of Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs. Henry Steinert, of Akron, and two grandchildren, Mavis and Donald Halweg, of Le Mars. The relatives have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.

John Reemts was a man of upright character and honorable in all his dealings; a kind husband and father and a helpful neighbor and valued friend.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock in Immanuel Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. Ernest G. Svenson. Hymns were sung by a male quartet, comprised of J. A. Jenson, Clifford Johnson, H. J. Behmer and Kenneth Shoulberg. A solo was sung by Miss Lorraine Johnson. The accompaniment was by Mrs. H. Shoulberg.

Acting as pallbearers were Aug. Lundgren, Chas. Jurgensen, Ernest Anderson, Dick Bohlken. Arthur Hasenbank and Erie Wdmark. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.

Present from out of town were: Mrs. Anna Reemts, of Sioux City, and son, Pvt. Arden Reemts, of Ft. Leavenworth, Kan.; Mrs W. M. Walker and son, Pvt. Bert Walker, of Ft. Leavenworth, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Halweg and children, of Le Mars; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. E. Kiewel and children of Sioux Falls, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fickbolm, of Burbank, S. D.; Mrs. Rein Kiewel and son, of Beresford, S. D.; John Kruse and daughter, Anna, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Halweg, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Halweg, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Halweg, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Haage, of Le Mars; Mr. and Mrs. George Renken, of Sioux City.
