DEATH SUMMONS CHRIS. F. REEMTS FRIDAY MORNING

Last Rites for An Esteemed Akron man Are Held Sunday Afternoon

Chris. F. Reemts, a resident of Akron and vicinity nearly al his life, passed away Friday morning, October 1, 1937, shortly after 1 a.m., at his home, aged 61 years, 10 months, and 1 day. He had been a sufferer from a stomach ailment during the past three years. about a year ago he recieved treatment for several weeks in a hospital at Muscatine, Iowa. Everything possible was done for his relief, but all to no avail.

Chris. Token Reemts was born November 30, 1875, in Emden, Germany, where he was confirmed in the Lutheran church. At the age of seven years he came to America with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reemts, and first settling at Sterling, Ill. Later they moved to Remsen, Plymouth county, Iowa, and then to a farm east of Akron. While living there Chris. was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran church in Preston township, by his farm the family moved to their own farm in Union county, S. D.

On May 22, 1913, he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Hitzemann by Rev. Fred A. Meske in Trinity Lutheran church, Akron. This union was blessed with two children, a son and daughter, the daughter preceding him into eternity. In March, 1919, Mr. Reemts and family moved to Akron and lived here seven years, when they returned to their farm, which remained their home until December, 1936, when they moved to Akron again on account of his failing health.

Besides his beloved wife and son, Richard, he is survived by three brothers and three sisters--Frank, John and Herman Reemts, all of Akron; Mrs. Kathie Borchers, of Preston township; Mrs. Ida Ross, of Akron, and Mrs. Flora STeinert, of Union county, S. D.

Mr. Reemts was a man of upright character and industrious habits, a kind and devoted husband and father, a helpful neighbor and valued friend. He held the highest respect of all who knew him and will be greatly missed in the community in which he had lived so many years. The bereaved relatives have the sincere sympathy of all who know them.

There was a large attendance at the funeral services Sunday afternoon, held at 1:45 o'clock from the home and at 2 o'clock in Trinity Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. Fred A. Meske. The palbearers were Emil Koch, Ebbo Willms, August Meske, L. F. Sprenger, Adolf schuster, and H. A. Stryzewski. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.

Relatives and friends who came from a distance to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Emil Radke, Mrs. Morris Anderson, and Miss Frances Chisholm, of Elgin, Ill.; Mrs. and Mrs. Earl Hitzemann, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Whitehouse and Mr. and Mrs. George Renken, of Sioux City.
